For sale here is a great example of a car that needs no introduction, the E39-generation BMW 5-Series - more specifically, the M62 V8-engined 535i. 

Presented here in the very desirable Aspen Silver, this 535i is in remarkably good condition considering the age, and recent welding to both rear arches at a cost of nearly two thousand pounds means that this doesn't exhibit the rusting rear arches that many examples for sale possess. Both sills are in good condition, and there's very little in the way of any damage to the paintwork, with just very minor chips and the odd light scratch being the worst of any bodywork problems. 
 
On the inside, things are even better - the plush black leather seats present in fantastic condition, with the rest of the interior also being in fine fettle. The driver's dot-matrix display does have some faded pixels, but the radio display is perfect and works as it should - the climate control is also working fantastically, with the air-con blowing a chill wind into the car when desired. The condition of the switchgear and trims really does reinforce the idea that this car has had a very high quality of owner over the years. 
 
Mechanically, the car drives very, very well. Having owned a few E39s before and driven plenty more, this is arguably the best one I've ever had the pleasure of driving around in, and it's hardly a surprise considering the wealth of paperwork that's included with the car, over the years it really does seem that everything the car has ever needed has been taken care of well before it has the chance to pose a problem, with invoices totalling nearly £10,000. The engine pulls beautifully through the range, and the automatic gearbox shifts keenly and smoothly with no unwanted knocks or bangs. There are a good number of stamps in the book, and any blanks are mostly filled with invoices for servicing work over the years. In addition to the rear arches, recent work includes the fitting of a reconditioned ABS pump, extensive work to the brakes and the purchase of four Pirelli P-Zero Nero GT tyres, which have nearly-new tread depths across all four.
