The E39 generation of 5 Series is considered by many enthusiasts to be one of BMW's finest model lines, if not the finest by some. Presenting in stunning Montreal Blue, this 540i is a wonderful example of the appreciating E39 generation. The freshly machine polished paintwork presents really well, with no major damage to the bodywork bar a couple of small dents and some minor scratches. The wheels are in fair condition, and the sills are free of rust or bubbles. There is some very minor corrosion to the front arches, but for the most part there's very little rust to speak of on the car. 
 
Inside, things are similarly good. The cream leather is in great condition, and the carpets and headlining present well with only minor signs of wear. These interiors are known for ageing well and this one is no different, with the switchgear feeling for the best part like any other E39 5 Series. The passenger seat electric control can be a touch tempremental, but aside from that everything is in good order and there are no pixels missing from the dashboard display. 
 
Mechanically the car drives well, and benefits from having been freshly serviced by ourselves prior to sale, including an oil change, air filter change, replacement of the thermostat and a full coolant flush. The front tyres are nearly new, and the rear tyres have around 3.5mm of tread remaining. There are no knocks or bangs, and the pre-VANOS M62 V8 pulls beautifully in combination with the ZF5 automatic gearbox, which changes gear smoothly and with minimal fuss.
